Hop Hop Hop Trend: the Gabi Point-and-Swap Duo Dance (AI from Two Photos)
The Hop Hop Hop trend, also called the gabi trend, is a TikTok duo dance to the Russian song “Её парень” (Her Boyfriend) by Shluzov: one person stands close to the camera and points back over their shoulder while a friend hops on the beat far behind, then a hard cut on the beat swaps their places. It spread from cosplay creators from 18 October 2026 and AI two-photo versions followed within a week.

The sound passed 100,000 TikTok videos by 29 October 2026 — still early for long-form explainers, which is why this page exists.

Figures are quoted from the source named, on the date named; we do not estimate. Status: rising.
What happens in the eight seconds
Two people, one fixed phone shot: Person A close to the lens points back over their shoulder while Person B hops far behind, then a hard cut on the beat swaps their places. Viral human versions are often filmed in a narrow hallway; Rapsona’s template uses a fixed bedroom scene (posters, ceiling fan) matching the example below.
The format is a magic trick more than a dance. The hop is easy, the point is easy, and the cut does the work: it is timed exactly to the beat so the swap feels like the song caused it. The versions that travel are the ones where the cut is dead on the beat and the second half mirrors the first precisely, which is why the “twin” version, one person playing both roles, is so common and why AI versions, which can mirror perfectly, took off so fast.
The sound: a Russian song most dancers cannot translate
The track is “Её парень”, which translates as “Her Boyfriend”, by the Russian artist Shluzov, in a sped-up TikTok edit. TikTok’s own discover pages for the sound are titled things like “Her Boyfriend Russian song edit” and “canción rusa hop hop hop”, which tells you how people find it: by language and by the chant, not by the title. YouTube re-uploads of the TikTok version date from 18 August 2026, so the song was circulating a month before anyone danced to it.
The lyrics are in Russian and are widely described in comments as crude; makeviral.ai says the same and a popular TikTok on the sound is captioned to the effect that the translation is weird. That is part of why the dance is so deadpan. Nobody is performing the words; they are performing the beat. We do not reproduce the lyrics here and the Rapsona version does not use the recording at all.
The sound got its TikTok name from a CapCut pencil-sketch edit posted on 24 September 2026 by @venadeaakira, according to makeviral.ai. That edit had about 173,000 views; the dance that followed a month later has over a hundred million.
Who is Gabi, and why the trend has her name
The dance format is credited to TikTok creator @gabilagaba, who posts anime, gacha and kawaii content in English. On 18 October 2026 she posted the point-and-hop duo with her twin under a caption claiming it as her trend, in capitals, with the spelling “trrendd”. Within three days she had posted a Hatsune Miku cosplay version, and within a week cosplay duos (@nirami1 and Cole on 24 October) and an AI two-character version (@pouzato7 on 25 October, about 2.6 million views) had copied the format. Her original was at about 3.7 million views and 548,000 likes by 30 October, per makeviral.ai.
So “gabi trend” and “hop hop hop trend” are the same thing: one is named after the creator, one after the chant in the sound. The country of origin is not confirmed; the song is Russian, the creator posts in English, and no press outlet has covered the trend as of 3 November.

The moves
Beat by beat, including the cut
- 0:00–0:04
Person A (front): look into the lens, point back over the shoulder with a flat hand flick, hold the deadpan. Person B (back): hop on every beat, small hand flicks, finish in a quick deep squat.
- 0:04–0:05
Hard cut, exactly on the beat. Same hallway, same framing, roles swapped.
- 0:05–0:08
Person B (now front): same point. Person A (now back): same hops, same squat at the end. Mirror the first half as closely as you can.
Total length is about eight seconds. If the cut lands even a quarter-beat late, the swap reads as an edit instead of a trick.
How to film it yourself (and what the AI version changes)
The filmed version is a two-shot edit. The AI version replaces the filming but keeps the cut.
Find a narrow hallway
Depth is the effect: the front person should be a step from the lens, the back person four or five metres away. Prop the phone; do not hold it. Filming yourself: a narrow hallway works best. Ordering on Rapsona: the template already uses a fixed bedroom.
Shoot take one
A in front pointing, B hopping behind. Count the beats out loud so the squat lands on the fourth.
Shoot take two without moving the phone
Swap places and repeat. If the phone moved, the cut will show.
Cut on the beat
In CapCut or TikTok, trim both takes to about four seconds each and butt them together on the downbeat. The twin version is the same process with one person.
Or generate it
The Rapsona template takes two photos, one per person, and generates both halves in a fixed room with the cut already in place. The video comes with the song.
Versions
Versions so far
Twin
One person plays both roles, filmed twice. How the original was made and still the most common form.
Cosplay
Miku, anime and gacha characters. The format’s first audience; many of the biggest early versions.
AI two-character
Two photos become two generated people in the hallway. Folk-hero and character pairings are popular because the swap works as a punchline.
Pet
A person in front, a cat or dog hopping upright behind, or two pets. Already appearing on the sound.
Art and animation
Drawn versions with their own searches (“hop hop hop trend art”, “hop hop hop animation”), mostly in Portuguese and Spanish.
What goes wrong, in filmed and AI versions
- The cut is late. Trim to the downbeat, not to where the hop looks finished.
- The phone moved between takes. The hallway should be pixel-identical in both halves.
- The back person is too close. The joke needs distance; stand further back than feels natural.
- In AI versions: the two people swap faces as well as places. Check that the person pointing in the second half is the one who was hopping in the first.
- In AI versions: the squat is skipped. It is the one “move” in the trend; a version without it looks unfinished.

The swap on the beat is the trend. Every version is one locked framing cut once so the two people change places; the twin version is one person filmed twice.
05Can I make it with one photo?
Rapsona’s Hop Hop Hop template takes two photos, one person per photo. For a twin-style gag, upload two separate photos of the same person.
06Does the Rapsona video use the original song?

11Is there a CapCut template for the hop hop hop trend?
CapCut how-tos for the AI version appeared around 29 October 2026. Rapsona generates a new take of both people from your photos, with the viral clip as the reference for the moves and the cut.
12Do I have to wait on the page while it generates?
No. Once it starts, the video keeps generating on our servers, so you can close the page. It takes 5 to 25 minutes, depending on the length of the video and the detailed processing of your photo. Come back then and open Account, under Your videos, to watch and download it.
